Statute overview

About this statute

This section says the Act may be cited as the Land Survey Act. This section defines terms used in the Act and indicates that the Director may delegate powers. The Director may authorize Department of Surveys and Mapping officers in writing to exercise or perform the Director’s powers and duties, and must delegate functions to the Zonal Land Surveyors. Only a land surveyor may do the listed surveying and boundary-beacon activities, or hold out as a land surveyor; the Director may extend paragraph (b) to specified areas by Gazette notice; breaches are offences with a fine or imprisonment. A land surveyor must carry out surveys in line with regulations made under the Act, but the Director can override those regulations for a particular survey by setting the methods to use.
