This Act may be cited as the Appellate Jurisdiction Act. This Act applies throughout the United Republic. This section gives meanings for terms used in the Act and explains how references are to be read for Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. The Court must try to give effect to the Act’s overriding objective when exercising powers under the Act or interpreting its provisions. The Court must handle matters to support the overriding objective, and parties or their advocates must help by participating and complying with court directions and orders. The Chief Justice may make rules for carrying out sections 3A and 3B.
