Statute overview

About this statute

This provision gives the Act its short title: the Insurance (Vesting of Interests and Regulation) Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act and gives the Minister power to approve additional securities by notice in the Gazette. Shares other than those already vested in the Treasury Registrar vest in the Treasury Registrar without further assurance and free of encumbrances. Provisions that depend on a corporation’s membership falling below a certain number have no effect on the corporation. A power of attorney or similar instrument executed before the effective date, and relating to shares vested in the Corporation under section 3, has the same effect for compensation rights connected with acquisition of those shares.
