Statute overview

About this statute

The Board is made up of a Chairperson appointed by the President and eight other members appointed by the Minister. The Board may also co-opt other people to meetings, but they cannot vote. A Board member who is not an ex-officio member must hold office for up to three years, unless the appointment instrument sets a shorter period. Board meetings need at least half the members present to form a quorum, decisions are made by simple majority, and the chairperson gets a casting vote if votes are equal. Board meeting minutes must be kept properly, confirmed at the Board’s next sitting, and signed by the meeting Chairperson. The Board may regulate its own meeting procedures and how it conducts its business.
