This section says the Act may be cited as the Public Audit Act. This section says the Act applies to audit conduct and other operations under the Controller and Auditor-General’s jurisdiction. The President appoints the Controller and Auditor-General from among Tanzanian citizens by birth, considers qualifications and experience, and the appointee must take an oath before the President. The Controller and Auditor-General must authorise spending from the Consolidated Fund only after being satisfied that Article 136 is or will be complied with, ensure authorised money is spent for the intended purposes, and audit and report on public accounts and financial management.
