ROC nationality matters—acquisition, loss, recovery, and revocation—are governed by this Act.

歸化的外國人或無國籍人，不得擔任列舉的公職；但自歸化日起滿十年後，該限制解除，除非其他法律另有規定。

Certain nationals may lose Republic of China nationality with approval from the Ministry of the Interior if specified conditions are met.

內政部不得核准某些依前條申請喪失國籍的人，包含未完成兵役義務且尚未服兵役者、現役軍人及現任中華民國公職者。

If one of the listed situations applies, a person does not lose nationality even if Article 11 would otherwise apply.

符合條件的人，在取得內政部許可後，可以撤銷其國籍喪失。

Certain people who lost ROC nationality may apply to restore it if they live in ROC territory and meet the listed Article 3(1)(3) and (4) requirements.

回復中華民國國籍者的未成年子女，可以申請隨同回復中華民國國籍。

申請回復中華民國國籍的人，應向內政部提出；核准後，自許可之日起回復國籍。

回復中華民國國籍的人，在回復國籍日起三年內，不得擔任第十條第一項所列各款公職；如其他法律另有規定，依其規定。

The Ministry of the Interior may revoke certain nationality-related decisions within 2 years after learning of a noncompliance issue, but not after 5 years from the relevant nationality event; before revocation it must hold a review meeting and let the person speak, subject to stated exceptions.

This provision lists the situations in which a person is considered to have Republic of China nationality, and says two of those rules also apply to certain people under 20 at the time of the 1989 amendment’s implementation.

取得外國國籍的中華民國國民原則上不得擔任中華民國公職；已任職者會由指定機關解除或免除其公職，但部分職務經主管機關核准可例外。

This provision sets when the Act starts to apply: on promulgation, and specified amended provisions start on 2023-01-01.

外國人或無國籍人如果在中華民國領域內有住所，且符合列明條件，得申請歸化。

符合特定居留、住所與身分條件的外國人或無國籍人，可以申請歸化；未婚且未滿18歲者在特定親屬或監護情形下，也可申請歸化。

符合本條條件的外國人或無國籍人，可以申請歸化；內政部也可訂定高級專業人才認定與審核標準。

Certain foreign nationals or stateless persons with distinguished merit toward the Republic of China may apply for naturalization, even if they do not meet the Article 3(1) requirements. The Ministry of the Interior must obtain Executive Yuan approval for the naturalization permission, and applicants under paragraph 1 are exempt from the nationality permit certificate fee.

未婚且未滿十八歲的歸化人子女，可以申請隨同歸化。

符合第3條至第7條申請歸化的外國人或無國籍人，應向內政部提出申請；許可後，自許可日起取得中華民國國籍。

外國人申請歸化後，通常要在一年內提出喪失原有國籍證明；逾期未提出，可能導致歸化許可被撤銷，且在提出前不會核准定居。
