The Ministry of Education establishes the National Taiwan Library to handle collection, organization, preservation, use, and promotion of library information and research/promotion of Taiwan studies materials. 本館負責掌理圖書資訊、臺灣學資料、社教藝文活動及陽明山中山樓等相關事項。 本館設置館長一人；必要時得以專科學校校長以上資格聘任。 本館設主任秘書一職，職務列為簡任第十職等。 本館各職稱的官等、職等及員額，另以編制表規定。
