大眾運輸工具播音語言平等保障法

This provision states the law’s purpose: to promote equal standing among ethnic groups, support multicultural development, and make public transportation easier for all groups to use.

Public transport broadcast services must follow this Act; if another law offers stronger language-equality protection, that other law prevails.

This provision defines “public transport tools” and says certain stations and similar places are treated under the same rules.

This provision defines “language” as the languages used by different ethnic groups within the country.

“Competent authority” means the statutory competent authority for each kind of public transport tool.

Public transport vehicles must broadcast in Mandarin plus Hokkien and Hakka; Matsu must also add Northern Min (Fuzhou), and international transport services must use at least one language commonly used by national ethnic groups.

If a public transport operator violates the law, the competent authority must order it to correct the violation within a deadline.

This Act takes effect three months after it is published.
