About this statute
The organisation known as the Uganda Red Cross shall, on commencement of the Act, be incorporated as a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal, be known as the Uganda Red Cross Society, and be the sole national Red Cross Society in Uganda; the Society is recognised as a voluntary aid society and shall be auxiliary to public authorities under the Geneva Conventions; the Society may sue and be sued by its corporate name and may acquire or dispose of property for its objects. The society's object includes furnishing aid to the sick and wounded in time of war, to non-belligerents, to prisoners of war, and to civilian sufferers from the effects of war. The Society must have the exclusive use of the Red Cross emblem.
