Statute overview

About this statute

Defines “Commission” as the Uganda Law Reform Commission and “Revised Edition” as any Revised Edition of the Laws of Uganda prepared under this Act. The Attorney General must, in consultation with the Commission and by statutory instrument, appoint specified persons to assist the Commission, order the Commission to prepare a Revised Edition, and ensure a Revised Edition is prepared every ten years. The Commission must submit a prepared Revised Edition to the Attorney General; the Attorney General may approve it and order its printing and publication. The Attorney General must, by statutory instrument, appoint a date when the Revised Edition comes into force. From the date the Revised Edition comes into force, the Acts, statutory instruments and legal notices included in the Revised Edition (or any volume of them) are to be treated as the laws of Uganda and are to be judicially noticed.
