About this statute

"board" means the Board of Management established by regulations made under section 2 in respect of a provident fund established under this Act. The President may make regulations to establish, maintain and manage a provident fund for non-pensionable local government servants and, in particular, may make regulations about the matters listed in subsections (1)(a)–(l). The Secretary to the Treasury must pay all monies from the Eastern Province Provident Fund into the fund when the fund is established, and those monies become part of the fund from the date of payment. A local government may (with the board's approval) become a contributing government; from that date the government and its nonpensionable servants are bound by the Act and its regulations. Depositors are required to deposit amounts into the fund.
