About this statute

Defines “security officer” as any member of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, the Uganda Police Force, or the Uganda Prisons Service. A security officer may use whatever force they deem necessary to stop a person suspected of committing robbery from escaping when the officer has reason to believe the person has committed or is about to commit robbery and the person resists or tries to evade arrest; this operates notwithstanding section 16 of the Penal Code Act.
