About this statute

Defines terms used in the Act: 'authorised officer', 'currency point', and 'Fingerprint Bureau'. Authorised officers may take biometric prints and related records of persons in lawful custody; the Minister prescribes the form; authorised officers must certify and record convictions and send forms to the Fingerprint Bureau; prints for acquitted persons with no prior conviction must be destroyed; refusal to comply is an offence punishable by up to two hundred fifty currency points; the court may order taking from convicted persons and authorised officers are entitled to use necessary force thereafter. An office called the Fingerprint Bureau is established for comparing and preserving fingerprints, footprints and palmprints. Any fingerprint, footprint or palmprint recorded on the form is to be evidence that it was taken from the person stated in the form. Prescribes the manner in which fingerprints, footprints, casts of fingerprints and footprints, palmprints, photographs and measurements shall be taken under this Act.
