About this statute
This Act must be read together with the Customs (Dumping and Subsidies) Act. The President may, by statutory order under this section, prescribe the rate(s) at which a customs duty imposed by an order under section 4 of the Customs (Dumping and Subsidies) Act is charged, subject to this Act and that Act. Provides that a duty may be charged or not charged for any period or at different rates for different periods. Rates of duty prescribed by an order under this Act are chargeable in addition to the rates prescribed for any other duty of customs. The Minister may, by statutory order, remit in whole or in part duties on imported goods if satisfied it is in the public interest; such remission may be specific or general for specified persons or classes.
