1. Interpretation

Defines "association" as the Uganda Boy Scouts Association.

It is unlawful for any person who is not authorised under the association's byelaws or rules to publicly wear, carry or bear the association's uniform, badge, token or emblem (or a reasonable imitation).

Section 2. Restriction on use of uniform, etc. ofassociation Section It shall not be lawful for any person, not being under the byelaws or rules of the association duly authorised and entitled so to do, publicly to wear, carry or bear any uniform, badge, token or emblem which under those byelaws or rules is specifically adopted for use under the authority of the association or which could reasonably be held to be an imitation of the same in such style or manner as to convey an impression that that person is under those byelaws or rules entitled so to wear, carry or bear that uniform, badge, token or emblem.

3. Restriction on sale of badges, etc. ofassociation

No person must not sell or offer for sale articles bearing the association's badge, token or emblem (or imitations) unless the article is first inspected by the commissioner and written authority is obtained.

Restriction on sale of badges, etc. ofassociation Section No person shall sell or offer for sale any article bearing a badge, token or emblem specifically adopted for use under the authority of the association , or which could reasonably be held to be an imitation of the same, unless he shall have first submitted the article to the inspection of the commissioner and shall have obtained authority from him in writing so to do.

4. Boy scout not to pass himself off as police officer, etc.

Boy scouts must not impersonate police, military, district police officers, government officers, or use association uniform to exercise authority except as authorised by the association's byelaws or rules.

Boy scout not to pass himself off as police officer, etc. Section 4(1) It shall not be lawful for any boy scout , not being otherwise thereunto lawfully entitled and authorised, to pretend to be, or to pass himself off as, or to arrogate to himself the authority, position or powers of, or to claim to be or to act as— Section 4(1)(a) a member of a police force or the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces; Section 4(1)(b) an officer exercising police functions in the service of the administration of a district; or Section 4(1)(c) an agent or officer of the Government or of the administration of a district. Section 4(2) No boy scout shall seek or attempt by virtue of his wearing any uniform, badge, token or emblem of the association , or uniform, badge, token or emblem purporting or appearing to be such, to enforce or exercise authority otherwise than in accordance with and as authorised by the byelaws or rules of the association .

Any person who wilfully contravenes any provision of this Act commits an offence and is liable on conviction to up to one month imprisonment or a fine not exceeding two hundred shillings or both; the court may order forfeiture of specified uniform, badge, token or emblem.

Offences and penalties Section Any person wilfully contravening any of the provisions of this Act commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one month or to a fine not exceeding two hundred shillings or to both, and it shall be lawful for the court to order the forfeiture of any such uniform, badge, token or emblem, as mentioned in sections 2 and 3 , in respect of which an offence has been committed and a conviction recorded.

The Act applies, mutatis mutandis, to the Uganda Girl Guides Association.
