Statute overview

About this statute

The Authority supervises authorised institutions, reports annually, and can approve, refuse, restrict, or revoke authorisations. Unauthorised deposit-taking in the UK is prohibited and can be an offence. This part lets the Authority object to controllers, require notices and information, restrict shares, and regulate deposit advertising and unsolicited calls. This provision gives investigators and the Authority powers to require information and documents, and it imposes duties to cooperate, give notices, and keep deposit-protection accounts available. This provision sets notice, naming, disclosure, and information rules for overseas institutions, authorised institutions, the Board, and the Authority. The Authority may disclose certain information only within stated conditions, and anyone who uses information in breach of subsection (8) commits an offence.
