Statute overview

About this statute

This chapter sets rules for leases, including what counts as a lease, when consumer lease forum/law choices are unenforceable, when leases are enforceable, and how courts can respond to unconscionable terms. This provision lets a lessor or lessee remove fixtures or accessions in some priority situations, requires reimbursement for physical injury repair costs, and sets rules for lease performance, repudiation, notice, remedies, and deadlines. The lessor may recover damages after certain lessee defaults, must hold covered goods for the remaining lease term unless an exception applies, and may dispose of the goods before judgment. The lessee gets possession rights back after paying the judgment. The provision also gives lessor and lessee rights to sue third parties in some cases.
