Section 31-9-82 Committee.

(a) There is hereby established the Alabama Disaster Recovery Program Committee, which shall be convened solely for purposes provided under this article. The committee shall consist of the following members: (1) The Director of the Department of Transportation, or his or her designee. (2) The State Forester, or his or her designee. (3) The Director of the Emergency Management Agency, or his or her designee. (4) A county commissioner appointed by the Association of County Commissions of Alabama. (5) A mayor or member of a city council appointed by the Alabama League of Municipalities. (6) A local emergency management director appointed by the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers. (7) A county engineer appointed by the Association of County Engineers of Alabama. (8) The Governor, or his or her designee. (b) Each appointed committee member shall serve at the pleasure of his or her appointing authority. The appointee of the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers shall serve as the initial chair of the committee and shall call its first meeting. At the first meeting, the committee shall elect, from its membership, a chair and vice chair who shall serve at the pleasure of the committee. (c) The membership of the committee shall be inclusive and reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of the state.
