Section 36-6-71 2006 Salary Increase.

(a) Effective with the first payday on or after June 1, 2006, state troopers and corporals and such other comparable classifications of arresting officers employed by the Department of Public Safety shall receive a four step, 10 percent, salary increase; sergeants and lieutenants and such other comparable classifications of arresting officers employed by the department shall receive a three step, seven and one-half percent, salary increase; and captains and higher ranking officers and such other comparable classifications of arresting officers employed by the department shall receive a two step, five percent, salary increase. The salary increases provided herein shall not affect normal annual merit raise considerations. (b) The Director of the State Personnel Department shall revise the classifications, schedule of rates, and ranges set forth in the pay plan for arresting officers and other comparable classifications employed by the Department of Public Safety to reflect the increases provided in subsection (a) to ensure that the new classifications, schedule of rates, and ranges shall be applicable to both current and future arresting officers and other comparable classifications employed by the Department of Public Safety and shall send the revised classifications, rates, and ranges to the State Comptroller who shall issue warrants in accordance therewith.
