ARS § 13-4502

A person incompetent to stand trial cannot be tried, convicted, sentenced, or punished for an offense. Prosecutor or defense counsel may file pretrial motions during that time, and the court must hear and decide the issues if the defendant does not need to be present for a fair hearing.
