32-4251 - Lawful practice 32-4251. Lawful practice A. A massage therapist shall refer a person requiring a treatment for a condition outside the scope of practice of a massage therapist to one or more appropriate health care practitioners if the massage therapist has reasonable cause to believe symptoms or conditions are present that require services beyond the scope of practice of massage therapy or if massage therapy is contraindicated. B. A massage therapist shall adhere to the recognized standards and ethics of the massage therapy profession and as further established by rule. C. This chapter does not authorize a massage therapist to practice any other profession regulated under this title and does not expand the scope of practice of any health care provider who is not licensed pursuant to this chapter but who is licensed pursuant to this title.
