If a qualifying petition to dissolve the district is filed, the board of supervisors must schedule a hearing 20 to 40 days later and then vote immediately after the hearing.

County commissioners must enforce this chapter for the recordkeeping it requires, under the director’s supervision.

Certain avocado purchasers or consignees must keep records of the seller’s name and address and also record the delivery person’s driver’s license number or other reasonable identification.

The required record and statement must be kept for one year from the purchase or delivery date, and must be available for inspection when the commissioner requests it.

Violating this chapter is a misdemeanor.

Articles brought into the state in violation of a federal quarantine may be seized, destroyed, or otherwise disposed of as if they had originated in the state and violated this division.

The secretary must adopt certain federal quarantine regulations by reference, and the secretary and authorized plant quarantine officers may impose civil and criminal penalties for violations under the other law.

Shipments of plants or other things that are infested, infected, or at risk of spreading pests while passing through the state must be placed in sealed containers, and those containers must not be opened while in the state.

This section prohibits moving or tampering with warning-tagged plants or notices without permission, forbids diverting certain quarantined shipments without written permission, and allows a service fee when quarantine officers must attend at destination.

A person may not import certain harmful animals into the state, and any such animal must be refused entry and then destroyed or shipped out within 48 hours at the owner or bailee’s expense.

It is unlawful to willfully import, ship, or transport live insects or pests in the state unless the shipment is authorized before shipment by written permit and applicable regulations, subject to listed exceptions.

A person may not willfully and knowingly import, transport, or ship a Mediterranean fruit fly within California unless another law permits it.

The state declares that purchases of processing strawberries are subject to this chapter to help prevent fraud, misinformation, deception, and other unfair trade practices.

“Processing strawberries” means strawberries grown, in whole or in part, to be ultimately processed into a use other than fresh consumption.

This section defines “purchase price” for processing strawberries as all price terms and compensation from processors to producers.

This section defines “integrated producer-processor” for processing strawberries.

This chapter applies to any marketing order issued under Chapter 1 of Part 2 that exclusively affects processing strawberries.
