Iowa Code § 717D.4 - Penalties
A person who violates this chapter generally commits a class D felony, but violating section 717D.2(10) by acting as a spectator at a contest event in this state is treated differently: the first offense is an aggravated misdemeanor, and a second or later offense is a class D felony.
