§9064. Authority to create a special district for subdivision maintenance; Jefferson Parish A. In addition to all authority granted to the governing authority of Jefferson Parish by the parish home rule charter but otherwise in accordance with such charter, the parish governing authority may create a special district for the Stonebridge subdivision, hereinafter referred to as the "district". B. The district may perform functions which will add to the security of district residents. Such functions may include the improvement and maintenance of a security wall around the subdivision, provision and maintenance of guardhouses, provision or improvement of security patrols in the area, or other similar functions intended to enhance the security of district residents. C. The parish governing authority may establish the district, define its authority, including taxing authority, and provide for its governance in accordance with the parish home rule charter. However, a district tax shall be levied only after the question of the imposition of the tax, including its purpose, rate, and duration, has been submitted to the qualified electors of the district in accordance with law and a majority of those voting in the election have voted in favor of the proposition. D. Any such district shall be subject to audit in accordance with R.S. 24:513 et seq. Acts 1997, No. 844, §1.
