The secretary of the commission must keep records, preserve documents, give meeting notices, and record contest receipts. The secretary may also issue subpoenas, administer oaths, and act as ringside inspector, with penalties for disobeying subpoenas or false swearing.
§63. Duties and authority of secretary of commission A. The secretary of the commission or persons he shall appoint and supervise shall keep a full and true record of all its proceedings, receipts, and expenditures; preserve all its books, documents, and records; prepare for service such notices and other papers required of him by the commission; and perform such other duties as the commission may prescribe. The secretary may, under the direction of the commission, issue subpoenas for the attendance of witnesses with the same effect as if issued by a court of record and may, under the direction of the commission, administer oaths in all matters pertaining to the duties of his office or the administration of the affairs of the commission. Disobedience of such subpoenas or false swearing before the secretary shall carry the same penalties under existing laws as in an action before a district court. The secretary or his duly authorized representative shall also serve as an inspector at the ringside of every contest to see that order is maintained and may eject any offending person and prefer charges against him for violation of any of the terms or provisions of this Chapter or any of the rules and regulations of the commission. B. The secretary or his duly authorized representative shall keep and preserve written minutes of all meetings, and he or his representative shall give notice of all meetings called to all members of the commission within a reasonable time prior to the meetings. C. The secretary or his duly authorized representative shall keep a record of the receipts at professional boxing and wrestling contests or exhibitions. Acts 1974, No. 553, §1; Acts 2007, No. 90, §1.
