§766. Part-time employees; creditable service; benefit eligibility; computation of benefits A. Any member of the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana who is employed on a part-time basis shall, with respect to such part-time employment, be governed by the provisions of this Section. B. For purposes of acquiring eligibility for regular retirement, disability retirement and survivor's benefits only, a part-time employee shall count every year in which he works on a part-time basis for the full normal working year as a full year of retirement credit but for eligibility purposes only. C. In the computation of part-time service a member shall receive credit based upon the ratio of his actual earnings during the fiscal year to the earnings he would have received had he been employed in the same position on a full-time basis for the full normal working year. D. Average compensation for part-time employees who do not use thirty-six months of full-time employment for average compensation purposes shall be based on the earnings the part-time employee would have received had he been employed on a full-time basis. However, any member who has more than one-half of his computed service credit by virtue of part-time employment shall have his average compensation limited to his average compensation as a part-time employee and shall not be allowed to use any compensation as a full-time employee in the computation of his average compensation.
