This section creates the Greater Krotz Springs Port Commission and sets how its 11 members are appointed.
CHAPTER 10. GREATER KROTZ SPRINGS PORT COMMISSION §1451. Creation of Greater Krotz Springs Port Commission A.(1) There is hereby created a commission to be known as the Greater Krotz Springs Port Commission, which shall be composed of eleven members, appointed as follows: (a) Two commissioners, who shall be residents of the city of Eunice, or who shall live within five miles of the city limits of Eunice, to be appointed by the governing authority of the city of Eunice. (b) Two commissioners, who shall be residents of the city of Opelousas, or who shall live within five miles of the city limits of Opelousas, to be appointed by the governing authority of the city of Opelousas. (c) Two commissioners, who shall be residents of the town of Krotz Springs, or who shall live within five miles of the city limits of Krotz Springs, to be appointed by the governing authority of the town of Krotz Springs. (d) Two commissioners, who shall be residents of St. Landry Parish, appointed by the St. Landry Parish Municipal Association, one of whom shall be of a minority race. (e) Three commissioners, who shall be residents of St. Landry Parish, appointed by the St. Landry Parish Police Jury, one of whom shall be of a minority race. (2) The members of the commission shall serve without compensation but may receive per diem at an amount not to exceed seventy-five dollars. A member of the commission may be removed by the appointing authority with or without cause. B. Any vacancy on the commission for any reason shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment, for the unexpired term of office. Each commissioner shall be a citizen of the United States and a qualified voter* of the State of Louisiana and the Parish of St. Landry. C. Each appointment shall be submitted to the Senate for confirmation at the next regular session of the legislature after the appointment shall have been made.
