§202. Louisiana Champions Day; creation; racing program; funding A. Beginning in 1991, and every year thereafter, the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association is hereby authorized to hold a special day of racing devoted solely to Louisiana bred horses to be known as "Louisiana Champions Day". Louisiana Champions Day shall be held in November or December of each year; the date and location of which shall be determined by the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association in consultation with the Louisiana Quarterhorse Breeders Association. B.(1) The racing program on Louisiana Champions Day shall consist of seven races for thoroughbreds and three races for quarterhorses. (2) The conditions of each race shall be determined by the appropriate breeders association. C. Louisiana Champions Day purses shall be determined for each race by the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association after consultation with the Louisiana Quarterhorse Breeders Association and may be funded as follows: (1) Purses offered by participating racing associations. (2) Funds from the appropriate breeders association. (3) Corporate contributions. (4) Funds made available pursuant to R.S. 4:203 and any other applicable provision of law. (5) Any other donations, bequests, or contributions made available for that purpose. Acts 1990, No. 884, §1; Acts 2022, No. 216, §1.
