This section sets how the Juvenile Court for Caddo Parish is run, including who serves as chief judge, year-round session requirements, judge vacation time, temporary replacement of absent judges, and who must provide quarters and operating expenses.
§1565. Juvenile Court for Caddo Parish; continuous session; quarters; conduct of business; expenses A. The judge of the Juvenile Court for Caddo Parish having the longest continuous service as judge of the court shall be chief judge of the court, and as chief judge he shall exercise the administrative functions of the court, including any such functions prescribed by the court. B. The Juvenile Court for Caddo Parish shall be in continuous session throughout the year; provided, however, that each judge shall be entitled to a vacation of one month during each year. C. In the event of a juvenile court judge's vacation, absence from the parish, inability to serve, or recusation, the judges of the First Judicial District Court may name one of their number to serve temporarily in his place. D. All sessions of the juvenile court shall be held separate and apart from the First Judicial District Court in quarters to be provided by the governing authority of Caddo Parish. Except as provided in R.S. 13:1565.1(B), the governing authority of Caddo Parish shall make all necessary provisions for the proper conduct of the business of said juvenile court and provide all necessary expenses in connection with the operation of same, said expenses to include stenographer's hire and all necessary and legitimate expenses incurred by the probation officers in the discharge of their official duties. The quarters furnished by the governing authority for the said court shall include an office for each of the judges of said court furnished as the duties of the said judges may require.
