§1107. Return to practice; area designation; notification A. Within such time after the applicant has completed medical school, internship, and residency as the board of commissioners shall provide by regulation, the scholarship recipient shall return to the parish or hospital service district, as the case may be, to practice family medicine, in an area designated by the board of commissioners prior to the return. The recipient shall remain in the parish or district, as the case may be, for a period of three years as consideration for the medical scholarship awarded. B. The board of commissioners shall insofar as is practicable designate an area of the parish or district to be served by the physician which has a shortage of physicians. The state health officer and the Louisiana State Medical Society shall assist the board in identifying, locating, and designating such areas when so requested. C. The board of commissioners shall inform the recipient of the designated area to be served by him one hundred twenty days prior to the date on which the recipient is to commence practice in such area.
