§3557. City of Lafayette; record clerk and matron; eligibility to participate; credit Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, any person employed as the records clerk and matron for the police department of the city of Lafayette shall be eligible for membership in the police pension and relief fund of the city of Lafayette, whether or not such person has been commissioned a police officer. Such membership shall be conditioned upon the filing of an application therefor with the board of trustees of the fund, together with such information as the board shall require. Any such person also shall be eligible to receive credit in the system for all service rendered as an employee of the police department of the city of Lafayette prior to the date on which membership is obtained, in accordance with the provisions of this Section. In order to obtain such credit the member shall make application therefor and shall pay into the fund employee contributions at the current rate on all compensation earned during the period for which credit is claimed plus two percent per annum interest thereon. Said contributions and the interest thereon may be paid in one lump sum or in such installments as shall be agreed upon between the board of trustees and the applicant for membership, provided that all of such installments shall be paid on or before the date on which application for retirement is made.
