§4543. Seller of sugar cane on manufactured products In addition to the other privileges accorded by law, the seller of sugar cane to any manufacturer of sugar has a privilege for the amount of the unpaid purchase price on the syrup, sugar, and molasses manufactured during the season by the purchaser to the amount of the product of the cane sold, which quantity is fixed as that portion of the products of the season which bears the same proportion to the entire product of the season as the cane sold and unpaid for bears to the entire quantity of cane manufactured during the season. This privilege exists as long as the said syrup, sugar, and molasses remain in the possession and custody of the manufacturer. This privilege is concurrent in favor of all unpaid sellers of sugar cane during the season and is next in rank to the laborer's privilege given by R.S. 9:4721.
