About this statute
If the municipality decides to improve sidewalks or curbing, the governing authority must advertise for bids and give 10 days’ notice. It must award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder with satisfactory security, and the council must then provide for assessments of abutting real estate. If no satisfactory bid is received, the governing authority may do the work itself and the cost is assessed to abutting owners.
