§1598. Absence of juvenile judge Whenever a judge of the Juvenile Court for the Parish of Jefferson is on vacation or for any other reason is absent or prevented from performing his duties as judge for any cause, any judge of the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District Court may preside over the juvenile court and discharge the duties of the juvenile judge. In addition, if any judge of the juvenile court is going to be on vacation or is absent or unable to discharge his duties as a juvenile court judge for any other reason, then the judge that is to be absent may appoint an attorney having the requisite qualifications for the office of juvenile court judge to act in his stead and discharge all of the duties incumbent upon a juvenile court judge. If a judge of juvenile court is absent or unable to perform his duties because of an incapacity and this incapacity makes it impossible for that judge to appoint an attorney to serve in his place, then the judge or judges of juvenile court shall appoint an attorney of appropriate qualifications to serve for the incapacitated judge. Any attorney appointed as judge ad hoc of the juvenile court shall serve during the entire absence of the judge he represents and shall be paid the same salary as the judge he is replacing, it being understood that the absent judge will continue to receive his normal salary and economic benefits set forth by law.
