§1453. Application; effective date; commencement of benefits A. Any member may retire upon written application to the board of trustees upon eligibility therefor. An application for retirement shall be officially filed with the board when received in the retirement office. Application shall be granted within thirty days if the applicant is entitled to retirement benefits. B. If a written application for any benefits is received by the board within ninety days of the date the applicant became eligible for the benefit, benefits shall be paid retroactive to the date of becoming eligible therefor. If an application for any benefit is received by the board after ninety days of the date the applicant became eligible therefor, benefits shall be paid only from the date the application is received by the board.
