§551. Harboring or concealing a sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator; penalties A. Harboring or concealing a sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator is committed when a person knows or has reason to know that a sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator convicted of a sex offense and required to register as a sex offender as provided for in Chapter 3-B of this Title has failed to comply with the registration requirements of this Chapter and with the intent of assisting the sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator in eluding a state or local law enforcement agency does any of the following: (1) Withholds information from or does not notify the law enforcement agency about a sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator's noncompliance with the requirements of this Chapter. (2) Harbors or attempts to harbor or assists another person in harboring or attempting to harbor a sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator. (3) Conceals or attempts to conceal or assists another person in concealing or attempting to conceal a sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator. (4) Provides information to the law enforcement agency regarding a sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator which the person knows to be false. B. Whoever commits the crime of harboring or concealing a sexual offender, sexually violent predator, or child predator shall be imprisoned not more than five years or fined not more than five thousand dollars, or both. At least two years of the sentence imposed shall be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Acts 2006, No. 137, §1.
