Qualifying former judges in Louisiana are entitled to a pension equal to half their former salary, paid by the State.

§1379. Former judges not coming under a retirement plan; pension Any person who has served as the judge of any court of record in the state of Louisiana for a period of twenty years or more, whether consecutively or not, and who has reached the age of seventy-five, and has not been removed from office for nonfeasance, malfeasance, misconduct in office, or for any other reason and who does not presently come under the provisions of any retirement act for judges of this state shall be paid a pension amounting to one-half of the salary he was receiving at the time he ceased to be a judge. Payment to each such retired judge shall be made on his own warrant and shall be paid in its entirety by the State of Louisiana.
