§3284. Board of directors; composition The said board of directors shall be composed of nine members, as follows: (a) The mayor, or the chief executive of the city. (b) The director of administration, or finance officer of said city, who shall be the treasurer thereof. (c) Five active members of the fire department of the city of Lafayette, each of whom must be a member of the fund and who must have served at least one year in said department before he is eligible to serve on the board. The five members shall be elected by the fire department as hereinafter set forth, one of whom shall be designated as secretary of the board. (d) Two members elected from the rank of the retired members of the fire department. Only those members of the board elected or appointed from the active rank of the department shall have the right to vote on any proposal to increase the assessment levied against the salary of each member of the fire force as provided by Section 9 of this Act. (e) The president, vice president, and secretary of the board shall be chosen by a majority vote of the members of said board and shall be elected for a two-year term.
