Minnesota Statutes § 287.03 - INSTRUMENTS VALID SECURITY FOR DEBT
Real-estate instruments generally cannot be enforced as security for a debt unless the security purpose is stated in the instrument, and debt enforcement is capped by the amount expressed in the instrument, subject to section 287.05.
