TCA § 33-5-403 — Prerequisites to involuntary commitment
A person may be judicially committed to involuntary care and treatment only if several conditions are met, including intellectual disability, substantial likelihood of serious harm, need for care or treatment, no suitable less drastic alternatives, and a complaint filed by the district attorney general.
