TCA § 70-5-108 — Acquisition of game and fish rights on private property — Nature of rights acquired — Penalty for violations

The executive director is authorized and empowered to acquire by gift, devise, lease, purchase or otherwise the exclusive game and fish rights on any privately owned lands or waters in this state, which game and fish rights shall include the right to manage, administer, protect, stock, and propagate wild birds, wild animals and fish upon these areas, and the right to permit hunting and fishing upon these areas in accordance with rules and regulations proclaimed by the commission. Any violation of such rules and regulations proclaimed by the commission is a Class C misdemeanor. The game and fish rights authorized to be acquired in this section shall be acquired for any period of years that the private owner may agree to by appropriate instruments in writing, signed and acknowledged by the owner or owners of the areas, and the executive director is hereby authorized to have these leases duly recorded in the office of the register of deeds for the county or counties in which the land is located.
