TCA § 49-15-105 — Participation by education partners

Any or all of the following education partners may participate in the development of a cooperative innovative program under this chapter that is targeted to high school students who would benefit from accelerated academic instruction: A public postsecondary institution other than the applicant public postsecondary institution; A private college or university located in this state; A private business or organization; The county legislative body in the county in which the program is located; or A public charter school. Remediation of students may occur through cooperative agreements between postsecondary and secondary institutions. A community college may participate in the development of a cooperative innovative program under this chapter that is targeted to high school students who need remediation upon enrollment in an institution of higher education. If the community college successfully remediates a student in such program then the student, upon certification by the community college of the student's successful participation and upon admittance to the postsecondary institution, shall be deemed to need no further remediation. A college of applied technology may participate in the development of a cooperative innovative program under this chapter that is targeted to high school students who may need remediation in technical math and reading upon enrollment in a college of applied technology. If the remediation is successful, upon admittance to any college of applied technology, the student shall be deemed to need no further remediation.
