Special District Local Laws Code § 1005.159
The board must choose one or more banks as the district depository, and district money generally must be deposited there. The district may not keep deposits above FDIC coverage unless the bank first provides a bond or other security. The board may also place some funds on time deposit or buy certificates of deposit.
