Government Code § 443.019

Sec. 443.019. DEPOSIT FOR USE OF CAPITOL OR CAPITOL GROUNDS. (a) The board may require and collect a standardized deposit from a person or entity that uses the Capitol or the grounds of the Capitol for an event, exhibit, or other scheduled activity. The deposit is in an amount set by the board designed to recover the estimated direct and indirect costs to the state of the event, exhibit, or activity. The board shall set the amounts of deposits required under this section in a uniform and nondiscriminatory manner for similar events, exhibits, or other scheduled activities. The board may deduct from the deposit: (1) the cost of damage to the Capitol or grounds of the Capitol that directly results from the event, exhibit, or other activity; (2) the costs of labor, materials, and utilities directly or indirectly attributable to the event, exhibit, or other activity; and (3) the costs of security requested by the person or entity for the event, exhibit, or other activity. (b) The board may charge and collect the costs listed under Subsection (a) from a person or entity that uses the Capitol or the grounds of the Capitol for an event, exhibit, or other scheduled activity and that does not post a deposit under Subsection (a).
