Occupations Code § 603.301

Sec. 603.301. LICENSE RENEWAL. (a) A license is valid for two years from the date of issuance and may be renewed biennially. (b) The medical board by rule may adopt a system under which licenses expire on various dates during the year. (c) A person may renew an unexpired license by paying the required renewal fee to the medical board before the license expiration date. (d) A person whose license has been expired for 90 days or less may renew the license by paying to the medical board a fee that is equal to 1-1/4 times the amount of the renewal fee. If a license has been expired for more than 90 days but less than one year, the person may renew the license by paying to the medical board a fee that is equal to 1-1/2 times the amount of the renewal fee. (e) Except as provided by Section 603.303, a person whose license has been expired for one year or more may not renew the license. The person may obtain a new license by submitting to reexamination and complying with the requirements and procedures for obtaining an original license. (f) Before the 30th day before a person's license expiration date, the medical board shall send written notice of the impending license expiration to the person at the person's last known address according to medical board records.
