Government Code § 419.008
The commission may make internal rules, accept gifts, appoint advisory committees, and must carry out duties assigned by law. Advisory committee members may not be paid, may get reimbursed for certain expenses, and members appointed under this chapter serve six-year staggered terms with a limit of two consecutive terms
