Dealer license applications must use the department’s form, dealers must report material changes within a reasonable time, franchised dealers need separate licenses for separate showrooms, and a dealer must get a new license before changing location.

Sec. 2301.257. APPLICATION FOR DEALER'S LICENSE. (a) An application for a dealer's license must be on a form prescribed by the department. The application must include: (1) the information required by Chapter 503, Transportation Code; and (2) information the board determines by rule is necessary to determine the applicant's qualifications to adequately serve the public. (b) If a material change occurs in the information included in an application for a dealer's license, the dealer shall notify the department of the change within a reasonable time. The department shall prescribe a form for the disclosure of the change. (c) A franchised dealer must apply for a separate license under this section for each separate and distinct dealership showroom as determined by the department. Before changing a location, a dealer must obtain a new license for that location. (d) The act of filing an application under this section or a form prescribed under this section does not establish the applicant as a franchised dealer.
