Insurance Code § 885.160

Sec. 885.160. ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORITY. (a) The department may make an examination and require information in addition to that required by Section 885.158(b) that the department considers advisable. On presentation of satisfactory evidence that a fraternal benefit society has complied with all provisions of law, the department shall issue to the society a certificate of authority. (b) The certificate of authority issued is prima facie evidence of the qualification of the fraternal benefit society as of the date of the certificate. (c) The department shall make a record of a certificate of authority issued under Subsection (a). A certified copy or duplicate of the department's record shall be accepted in evidence with the same effect as the original certificate. Added by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1419, Sec. 1, eff.
