Water Code § 62.023

Sec. 62.023. PETITION. (a) Any person may present a petition to the commissioners court in the county of jurisdiction, at a regular or special session, requesting the creation of a district. (b) The petition shall be signed by 25 of the property taxpaying electors who reside inside the boundaries of the proposed district. If there are less than 75 property taxpaying electors who reside inside the boundaries of the proposed district, the petition shall be signed by one-third of them. (c) The petition shall include: (1) a request that the district be created; (2) the boundaries of the district accompanied by a map; (3) the general nature of the proposed improvements; (4) an estimate of the probable cost of the improvements; and (5) the name of the district, which shall include the name of the county. (d) The petition shall be accompanied by an affidavit of the petitioners' qualifications. Acts 1971, 62nd Leg., p. 110, ch. 58, Sec. 1, eff. Aug. 30, 1971.
