Human Resources Code § 31.053

Sec. 31.053. DETERMINATION BY LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD. (a) With regard to the general appropriations bill introduced in each house in each regular session, it shall be the duty of the legislative budget director, not later than the seventh day of the session, to inform in writing the lieutenant governor and the speaker of the house of representatives of three items of information: (1) the biennial amount of the "state budget," as defined for the purposes of this subchapter, based on the general appropriations bills as introduced; (2) the maximum biennial amount of one percent of the state budget; and (3) the biennial amount which would be appropriated by the general appropriations bills for assistance to or on behalf of needy dependent children and the caretakers of such children and which is subject to the limitation. (b) At the request of the lieutenant governor or speaker the legislative budget director shall update this information and shall provide a statement of other legislation affecting appropriations. (c) The Legislative Budget Board may adopt rules necessary to perform its duties under this subchapter. Added by Acts 1983, 68th Leg., p. 1667, ch. 312, Sec. 1, eff. Aug. 29, 1983.
